NZ Listener – Simon Ogden & Sefton Rani listed as collectable

“Collecting worn domestic floor square tiles in myriad glowing colours and crinkling textures, many with heavy wear and tear, Simon Ogden’s energetic compositions draw on patterns and imagery from the ancient and medieval worlds, as well as modern surrealism. His works bring these elements together in complex ways, leaving room for viewers to find their own meaning. I know no one else who makes works like this. I likely never will.”
“Of Cook Island heritage, the 2025 McCahon House resident creates what he calls “industrial tapa”, burning, stripping and layering skins of paint and wood, resembling charged, charred artefacts from a city inferno. Sefton Rani places his work in conversation with the Arts Trust collection at Pah Homestead, Auckland, in the exhibition ‘Clear My Throat’.”
